Alfredo Arteaga's Smoked Sausage Cajun Alfredo Pasta
Ingredients
- Butterball Natural Hardwood Smoked Turkey Sausage
- 8 oz of Penne Pasta
- 2 Tbsp oil of choice
- 3 Tbsp of unsalted butter
- 2 cups Heavy Cream
- 1⁄2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 1⁄2 tsp salt
- 1⁄2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp cajun
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Fresh parsley (garnish)
Directions
- In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil, add 2 Tbsp of salt, and cook pasta according to your liking.
- In a large skillet, drizzle oil over medium heat, add your smoked turkey sausage slices and cook until browned. Remove and set aside for later.
- In a small container, combine all your seasonings to use in the next step.
- In the same large skillet, melt your butter and add half of your seasoning mixture to allow the flavors to bloom. This should take about 30 seconds.
- Lower your heat to a medium low and add your heavy cream. As the heavy cream begins to heat up, add the remaining of your seasoning mixture.
- Stir in your grated Parmesan cheese until it melts and thickens up the sauce.
- Add your cooked Penne pasta and smoked turkey sausage to your sauce. Combine until everything is coated in the sauce.
- Let the pasta cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat, serve, and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Sprinkle on some smoked paprika on top (optional).
