Ingredients

  • 3lbs Butterball ground turkey
  • 2 tbsp Garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp Onion powder
  • 1 tbsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 2 tbsp Complete seasoning
  • 2 tbsp Turkey boullion
  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp Flour
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1/2 Yellow onion
  • 1/2 Bell pepper
  • 1/2 Yellow pepper
  • Olive oil
  • For Gravy Only
  • 1 tsp Complete seasoning
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, dry seasonings (all except for the 'for gravy only'), Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic, then mix until everything is incorporated. Next, form small patties with the turkey mixture (you should get 12 patties with this amount of ground turkey).
  2. In a skillet, on medium heat, add 2 tbsp of olive oil. Once the oil heats up, add in 6 patties.
  3. Sear for 4 minutes on each side (this will give them a nice brown color on both sides), then cook for 8-10 minutes (internal temp should be AT LEAST 165°, flipping every 2 minutes until done. Remove and set aside. Repeat this step until all patties are cooked. (Leave all dripings inside the pan. This will be the base of the gravy that will be made.)
  4. Once all patties are cooked and set aside, add all of the peppers and onions to the pan with the drippings from the turkey patties. (Let the onions sauté in the drippings for about 2 minutes to become soft.) After 2 minutes, add the turkey boullion and mix until incorporated.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and 1 cup of water, then pour the flour mix into the skillet. Add in the 'for gravy only' seasonings, then stir consistently until the gravy starts to thicken. Once the gravy starts to thicken, whisk in the 2nd cup of water. Allow the gravy to thicken, then reduce to a low heat an dadd in all of the turkey patties.
  6. Simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes or until the gravy reaches your desired thickness, (be sure to flip the patties every 1-2 minutes to ensure they are fully coated) then turn off the heat.
  7. These smothered turkey patties are best served over white rice or mashed potatoes. Your turkey patties are now ready to plate and serve!
